Matthew 4:1-2 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And he fasted forty days and forty nights, and afterward he was hungry.
How well do you understand that nature of temptation?
3 simple questions:
Will you trust in God above all else?
Will you obey God above all else?
Will you Worship God before all else?
Israel didnít, but Jesus did, and in so doing he fulfilled the law for us.
The power to over come temptation comes to us through the Word.
The power of our salvation is in Christ.
Israel grumbled against God, where will get food?
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
Israel didnít obey God
Deuteronomy 6:16 "You shall not put the LORD your God to the test, as you tested him at Massah.
Israel didnít worship God alone
Deuteronomy 6:13 You shall fear the LORD your God; you shall serve him, and swear by his name.
When we trust in God and rely on his word,
when we daily confess our sins and daily receive forgiveness,
when we walk by faith,
we know that the Holy Spirit is dwelling in our heart, that we will not be tempted beyond our ability, and we will be able to claim the victory over every sin and every temptation in Christ,
and we know that God will send his angels to minister to us,
because we know that God has ordered that nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours in Christ.
